In a significant move, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has taken action against perceived gross misconduct by deposing three traditional rulers. The affected monarchs are the Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfe, HRH Abdulrazaq Isah Koto; the Olu Magongo, Sambola Ojoaha; and the Obobanyi of Emani, HRH Samuel Onimisi. These dethroned kings have been relocated to Niger states.
Governor Bello, in justifying the decision, cited “gross misconduct in various forms” and emphasized that due process, traditional laws, and regulations were meticulously followed. The government’s unwavering commitment to upholding established protocols and principles influenced the removal of these rulers.
Additionally, the government announced the indefinite suspension of HRH Boniface Musa, the Onu-Ife in Omala Local Government. The governor’s actions underscore a commitment to accountability and adherence to established norms within the traditional and chieftaincy systems of the state.
