In Nasarawa State, police have arrested one Khadija Aliyu for abducting a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony in Keffi. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, and Aliyu was apprehended around 6:30 PM.
According to the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel, the suspect had attended the ceremony disguised as a pregnant woman. While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house where the baby was sleeping, wrapped the child in a veil, and escaped.
However, police operatives quickly tracked her down and arrested her before she could get away.
In a separate incident, the police also arrested an ex-convict, Hussaini Mohammed, for allegedly stealing motorcycles in the Keffi area. Recently released from a correctional facility, Mohammed was apprehended during an investigation into stolen motorcycles. Three stolen bikes were recovered from him as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has urged members of the public with reports of stolen motorcycles to visit the Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi with proof of ownership to reclaim their property.
