Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Co-Wife in Kogi

The Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) has arrested a woman, Nefisat Usman, from Ajakagwu in Dekina Local Government Area, for allegedly killing her co-wife during a domestic altercation.

The Head of ICT/Media for KSVS, S. O. Saka, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lokoja, revealing that the tragic incident occurred on January 4, 2025.

According to the statement, an argument between the two women escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Nefisat allegedly inflicted fatal injuries on her co-wife. Following the incident, she fled to Alloma in Ofu Local Government Area in an attempt to evade arrest.

“A tragic incident unfolded on January 4, 2025, in Ajakagwu, Dekina LGA, when a dispute between co-wives turned violent, leading to the unfortunate death of one of them,” the statement read. “The suspect, Nefisat Usman, fled to Ofu LGA but was eventually apprehended after weeks of manhunt.”

KSVS confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force’s State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Lokoja for further investigation.

When contacted, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, confirmed the arrest, stating that investigations have been concluded and the suspect will soon be arraigned in court.
