Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, representing Kano Central, has addressed criticism surrounding his recent donation of over 2000 clay pots and 10,500 yards of white cloth to Muslim graveyards in his constituency. Contrary to misinformation, Senator Hanga clarified that the gesture was not part of his constituency project but a personal initiative to seek God’s blessings and eternal reward.
Speaking at his first press conference since his election in 2023, Senator Hanga emphasized that the donation was a family legacy he inherited and had been practicing even before his political career. He explained that the donation aimed to address the shortage of clay pots in graveyards across 15 local government areas in his senatorial zone.
Despite facing health challenges after his election, including spending seven months in Nigerian hospitals and additional time in Egypt and England, Senator Hanga expressed his commitment to serving his constituents. He highlighted his efforts to secure projects for his constituency in the 2023 budget and pledged to ensure their implementation.
Senator Hanga’s donation reflects his personal dedication to serving his community and his enduring commitment to upholding family traditions of philanthropy.
