Two Female Farmers K!lled in Kogi Attack

By Tijani Labaran
Two women were brutally shot dead on their farm in Okete village, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when the victims—one identified as Ileyi—were working on their crops. According to local sources, armed assailants opened fire on them before fleeing the scene.
A community leader, Akowe Ajofe, expressed grief over the killings, stating that the women were attacked after an altercation with suspected herders.
“We rushed to the farm after hearing the news, only to find their lifeless bodies riddled with bullets and burns,” Ajofe said. “The attackers not only shot them but also set them on fire. We still don’t know what provoked such cruelty on their own farmland.”
The victims have since been buried, but the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Efforts to get a response from the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya, were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls or reply to text messages.
