Washington, D.C. – Former President Donald Trump announced on Thursday the creation of a federal task force to eliminate anti-Christian bias within the government, vowing to protect religious freedom nationwide. The initiative will be spearheaded by the Department of Justice (DOJ) under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Trump made the announcement at a private event following the 73rd annual National Prayer Breakfast, marking his second speech of the morning dedicated to faith and religious values. He emphasized the importance of defending Christians and religious believers from discrimination and government overreach.
The newly established task force will focus on investigating and addressing instances of religious discrimination within federal agencies, including the DOJ, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Attorney General Bondi has been directed to take immediate action to halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and to ensure full prosecution of crimes related to religious violence and vandalism.
“This task force will move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide,” Trump declared, reaffirming his commitment to protecting faith communities.
The former president also signed an executive order on Thursday afternoon to formalize the task force’s mission. The initiative has received strong support from religious and conservative organizations, including the Faith & Freedom Coalition.
Ralph Reed, president of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, commended Trump’s decision, stating, “In the aftermath of the Biden Justice Department targeting parents attending school board meetings for possible prosecution and the FBI labeling faithful Catholics as a potential domestic threat, it has never been more important to eradicate all forms of targeting, bias, and discrimination based on faith at the federal level.” Reed added that his organization, which represents three million members, fully supports Trump’s efforts to uphold religious freedom.
Earlier in the day, Trump addressed lawmakers at the National Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill, underscoring the significance of faith in American history. “From the very beginning of our Republic, America has always been a nation founded by people of faith and strengthened by the power of prayer, united by four simple but beautiful words: ‘In God We Trust,’” he said.
The former president also emphasized the importance of religious values in personal fulfillment. “I truly believe people cannot be happy without religion, without that belief. Let’s bring religion back. Let’s bring God back into our lives,” he urged.
Additionally, Trump announced the formation of a White House faith office, which will be led by Rev. Paula White, his longtime faith adviser from his first term. The office aims to strengthen the administration’s engagement with religious communities and promote faith-based initiatives.
Trump’s latest moves signal his continued commitment to religious liberty and his broader efforts to rally faith-based support ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
