In a distressing turn of events, three individuals lost their lives while trying to escape from a kidnappers’ den in Kogi State, as revealed by Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District. The Senator issued a statement on Thursday evening, urging the Kogi State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to urgently address the escalating insecurity in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area.
Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Isanlu, Senator Karimi emphasized that six individuals had been abducted within a span of 48 hours. Tragically, three lives were also lost in the process as people attempted to flee from the clutches of the kidnappers.
The statement, titled “Address the Security Situation in Isanlu and Neighbouring Communities,” highlighted the urgency of the matter. While acknowledging the efforts of the state governor in safeguarding lives and property, Senator Karimi called on the Police Commissioner and the DSS Director to take decisive actions in stemming the tide of kidnapping in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The lawmaker commended the state governor’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and their belongings. However, he stressed the need for swift and effective measures to be implemented by the security agencies to curb the rising incidents of kidnapping and violence in the region.
