Episode 4

Anita POV

My heart skipped a beat as I laid eyes on Alexander Huston, the man who had unknowingly taken a significant role in the ongoing drama of my life. He looked just as striking in person as he did in the magazines and billboards I had seen him on. The room seemed to shift slightly as my gaze met his, and for a moment, it felt as if time had frozen.

As if sensing my unease, Tracy nudged me with an excited smile. “Well, well, isn’t that a pleasant surprise?”

I managed a nervous chuckle, trying to shake off the jumble of emotions his presence stirred within me. “Yeah, definitely unexpected.”

Sandra joined us, her eyes dancing with mischief. “Looks like the party just got more interesting, huh?”

I glanced back at Alexander, who was now engaged in conversation with a couple of people. “I guess so.”

As the night wore on, the party seemed to take on a life of its own. People mingled, danced, and enjoyed themselves, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration. I found myself alternating between moments of joy and moments of anxiety. On one hand, I was surrounded by friends and the thrill of the party, and on the other, the weight of my circumstances loomed over me.

A slow song started playing, and couples began to pair up on the dance floor once again. I watched as Tracy and a guy she had been talking to earlier swayed to the music, lost in their own world. Meanwhile, Sandra was busy making rounds, greeting guests and ensuring everyone was having a good time.

I stood by the edge of the dance floor, my gaze wandering as I tried to make sense of everything. It was strange how life could take unexpected turns, leading us down paths we had never anticipated. And in the midst of it all, there he was—Alexander Huston.

“Care for a dance?”

His voice pulled me from my thoughts, and I turned to find him standing beside me, his hand extended toward me. His eyes held a warmth and familiarity that both comforted and unnerved me.

“Sure,” I replied with a smile, placing my hand in his.

We moved onto the dance floor, and as the music wrapped around us, I found myself drawn into his embrace. The proximity was intoxicating, and his presence seemed to drown out the noise of the party, leaving only the two of us.

“You seem lost in thought,” he remarked, his eyes studying mine.

I chuckled softly. “Yeah, it’s been quite a day.”

He raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. “Do you care to share?”

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. “Let’s just say life has a way of surprising us.”

He nodded, seemingly understanding the unspoken words behind my vague response. “Indeed it does.”

As the song continued, our conversation flowed effortlessly. We talked about everything from our favorite music to our dreams for the future. It was a simple yet genuine exchange, and with every passing moment, I felt my guard lowering.

“Anita,” he said softly, “there’s something about you that’s different.”

I looked up at him, my heart pounding. “Different? How so?”

He smiled, his eyes holding a mixture of curiosity and admiration. “You’re not like the people I usually meet. There’s a depth to you, a sense of authenticity.”

His words caught me off guard, touching a chord deep within me. It was as if he had seen through the layers I had carefully constructed, glimpsing the real me beneath it all.

Before I could respond, the song came to an end, and we found ourselves surrounded by the applause of the other guests. The enchanting moment was over, and reality rushed back in.

“Thank you for the dance,” I said, my voice slightly breathless.

“Thank you for sharing it with me,” he replied, his gaze lingering a moment longer before he turned to join the others.
