The Kogi State government has issued a stern warning to landlords and hoteliers, advising them against renting their properties to internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo Boys. This announcement was made by the State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), during his appearance on “State of Kogi,” a Radio Kogi audience participatory program, on Monday.

Omodara emphasized that landlords risk having their houses demolished if they continue to rent to Yahoo Boys. He also stated that security agencies will soon target hotels that are used by these fraudsters, with appropriate sanctions to be imposed on the affected hospitality facilities.

“The government, in collaboration with security agencies, has identified houses built with proceeds of criminal activities and those housing criminals. Such houses will soon be demolished,” Omodara revealed.

He urged residents to cooperate with the government and security agencies by providing information necessary for the arrest of internet fraudsters. Omodara praised Governor Usman Ododo’s efforts in combating insecurity and called on companies and affluent individuals to contribute to the State Security Trust Fund.

Additionally, Omodara announced that security agencies and local hunters have been instructed to arrest or neutralize anyone found carrying arms in the forest.
