In celebration of her first year in office, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has inaugurated a water reticulation system in Kogi Central to provide clean water for her constituents, fulfilling a key campaign promise. At the commissioning ceremony on Friday, she expressed her joy at being able to improve access to water for local communities, many of whom previously had to travel long distances for this essential resource.
“This 50,000-liter water system is designed to serve around 50 homes per tank, ensuring durability and easy access to water. We now have twelve water reticulation projects across Kogi Central, with six ready for immediate use,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan announced. She assured her constituents of continued efforts to expand these water projects, adding that she is optimistic about receiving federal support for additional infrastructure despite her affiliation with the PDP, as she believes in delivering for her people.
In addition to addressing water infrastructure, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has implemented skills acquisition programs to empower local residents across Kogi Central’s five local government areas. These programs cover practical skills such as fashion design, block molding, tiling, welding, fishery, and catering. Beneficiaries will not only receive training but also startup funds and equipment to launch their own businesses.
At the program launch, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan advised participants to make the most of the resources provided. “I urge you to remain patient and committed; resist any temptation to sell your tools. With determination, you can establish thriving businesses. By next year, I look forward to seeing your enterprises flourishing,” she stated, emphasizing her goal of fostering financial independence through these initiatives.
These projects underscore Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and creating economic opportunities in Kogi Central, positioning the region for sustainable growth and improved quality of life.
