The graduates represent seven of the institution’s colleges:

  • College of Management and Social Sciences
  • College of Natural and Applied Sciences
  • College of Humanities
  • College of Education
  • College of Communication and Information Technology
  • College of Law
  • Postgraduate School

Speaking at a pre-convocation press briefing, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Alewo Akudo, highlighted the university’s ongoing impact on education and development in Kogi State, Nigeria, and globally. He announced that the recently accredited College of Basic Health and Medical Sciences would soon commence operations.

“Our sixth convocation is scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, where we will graduate 499 students, including 41 First-Class honorees,” Prof. Akudo stated. He noted that this convocation combines the 2022, 2023, and 2024 sets.

Prof. Akudo emphasized the role of Salem University graduates as “change agents,” contributing meaningfully to society. He called on critical stakeholders—such as the Kogi State Government, the Federal Government, and philanthropic individuals—to support the institution’s growth.

He further urged the Federal Government to strengthen support for private universities, acknowledging their pivotal role in producing quality graduates. “Private universities are significantly contributing to the global workforce, often matching or exceeding the impact of public institutions,” he concluded.
