Recent checks at pharmacies revealed a significant increase of 50 to 200 per cent in condom prices compared to the previous year. This spike in prices has compelled individuals to explore alternative contraceptive methods, raising concerns about the potential risks associated with unprotected sex.

Felix Atuche, a banker, lamented the soaring cost of condoms, forcing him to consider withdrawal methods as a contraceptive measure. Similarly, Monisola Ajayi, a businesswoman, highlighted the importance of using condoms for protection against STIs, but expressed dismay over the inflated prices of female condoms.

The escalating prices pose a significant challenge for individuals, particularly youths, who may resort to unsafe sexual practices due to financial constraints.
