In a significant development, officers of the Nigeria Police Force achieved a notable success on Thursday, neutralizing a group of kidnappers and gunrunners who had been causing havoc across several states. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the operation in a statement released on Friday.
According to the statement, the Force Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) successfully eliminated the notorious criminals during a raid on their hideout near Gitata, along the Keffi Gidan Wire Road in Nasarawa State. The individuals targeted had been notorious for their activities in Abuja, Kaduna, Kogi, and Nasarawa states, spreading fear and chaos in their wake.
The operation resulted in the recovery of four AK47 rifles, alongside other weapons and a cache of ammunition. Additionally, it was revealed that these criminals were also involved in the supply of arms to bandits operating within the same region, exacerbating security challenges in the affected areas.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to employing all necessary measures to eradicate criminal elements from communities and uphold peace and order nationwide. This latest success adds to previous efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
In related incidents, similar operations conducted earlier in the year saw the elimination of notorious bandits and kidnappers in different parts of the country. These operations reflect the ongoing efforts of security forces to tackle insecurity and maintain law and order across Nigeria.
