Osimhen Becomes Nigeria’s Second All-Time Top Scorer, Surpasses Odegbami

Victor Osimhen has officially surpassed Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami to become the country’s second-highest goal scorer of all time, trailing only the late Rashidi Yekini.
The Galatasaray striker achieved this milestone on Friday evening during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali. Osimhen found the back of the net in the 11th minute, converting a well-delivered free-kick from Ademola Lookman to give the Super Eagles an early lead.
Heading into the match, Osimhen was tied with Odegbami at 23 international goals. However, his latest strike brings his tally to 25 goals, placing him two ahead of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winner.
At 26 years old, Osimhen now stands as Nigeria’s second-highest goal scorer in history, with only Rashidi Yekini ahead of him. Yekini, who remains the country’s all-time leading goal scorer, netted 37 goals for the Super Eagles during his illustrious career.
