NSCDC Arrests Four for Illegal Revenue Collection in Kogi State

The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and paraded four individuals for violating the state government’s ban on unauthorized revenue collection by transport unions.

NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Aliyu, revealed that the suspects, identified as Umar Yakubu, Mohammed Danjuma, Agulu Yahaya, and Ibrahim Yagaji, were apprehended at various locations in Lokoja, the state capital. They were allegedly involved in criminal conspiracy and illegal collection of revenue by selling stickers to commercial tricycle operators (keke) within the metropolis.

The suspects were arrested on February 5, 2025, and their actions were found to be in direct violation of the state’s law prohibiting unauthorized revenue collection.

According to Aliyu, the NSCDC will conduct a thorough investigation before arraigning the suspects in court to serve as a deterrent to others engaging in similar unlawful activities.

In their separate remarks, two of the suspects claimed ignorance of the law, while the other two denied any wrongdoing. The NSCDC, however, reiterated its commitment to enforcing state regulations and maintaining order within Kogi State’s transportation sector.
