The National Orientation Agency (NOA), in collaboration with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), will hold a town-hall meeting in Kogi State to address electricity customer complaints. The meeting is scheduled for September 12 to 14 at Edge Drive Hotel, GRA, Lokoja.
Mr. Abdulganiyu Dare, the Kogi State Director of NOA, announced the event during a roadshow in Lokoja on Wednesday. The roadshow aimed to raise public awareness about the upcoming town-hall meeting and encourage residents to attend.
Represented by Pastor Ogbonnikan Augustine Mayowa, Assistant Director and Head of Program at NOA, Dare emphasized that the meeting would provide a platform for electricity consumers to voice their concerns and get information about their rights and obligations. The event will also feature an interactive session to address issues such as metering, estimated billing, and other complaints related to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
Dare highlighted that the objective of the meeting is to facilitate on-the-spot resolution of conflicts and complaints. He assured that NERC is committed to resolving all issues raised during the meeting.
To ensure widespread publicity, NOA has collaborated with media organizations, including NAN, NTA, and FRCN. Dare urged residents to attend the meeting and take advantage of this opportunity to have their complaints addressed.
Mr. Ishaya Bassey, NERC’s representative, reiterated that the meeting will focus on customers’ rights and obligations, metering issues, and other billing concerns. He assured attendees that their complaints would be heard and resolved.
The roadshow, which began at the State Secretariat and covered key locations such as Zone-Eight roundabout and Army Signal, concluded at FEN Junction. Tracts and flyers were distributed, and jingles in three major Kogi languages were played to invite residents to the town-hall meeting.
