
The Nigeria Police Force and the British Embassy in Nigeria have launched a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing security and combating crime in Kogi State.
The initiative was officially unveiled on Monday following a high-level meeting between Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, and a British Embassy delegation led by Mr. Andrew Marshall. The discussions focused on intelligence-driven security operations and counter-kidnapping strategies to address security challenges in the state.
Intelligence-Led Security Operations
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Marshall emphasized the critical role of intelligence gathering in tracking criminal activities. He highlighted the need for strong collaboration between security agencies and international partners to effectively combat threats such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.
“Crime remains a major obstacle to peace and societal progress. Through intelligence sharing and coordinated security efforts, we can make communities safer,” Marshall stated.
Police Commitment to Strengthening Security Measures
In response, Commissioner Dantawaye reaffirmed the police force’s dedication to improving security across Kogi State. He stressed the importance of global cooperation, acknowledging the advanced security expertise and resources that foreign partners bring.
Dantawaye also pledged to:
- Intensify stop-and-search operations
- Enhance strategic intelligence sharing
- Strengthen counter-kidnapping measures
Additionally, he urged the British Embassy to provide actionable intelligence to enable law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly to security threats.
Strengthening International Security Partnerships
The Commissioner described the meeting as a significant milestone in reinforcing security partnerships and improving crime-fighting capabilities in the state. He reiterated that collaborating with international partners is crucial in tackling evolving security challenges.
The partnership is expected to enhance security surveillance, improve police response times, and create a safer environment for residents and businesses in Kogi State.
