National Chairman's Position Not Vacant - APC NWC Warn Yahaya Bello Over Campaign Posters

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the immediate-past governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, emphasizing that there is currently no vacancy in the office of the national chairman of the party.

The national publicity secretary of the party, Felix Morka, delivered the cautionary message while addressing newsmen at the national secretariat of the party. Morka explicitly warned the former Kogi governor against creating confusion within the party, underscoring that the position of the national chairman is presently occupied.

This warning comes in response to the appearance of posters featuring Yahaya Bello’s image on major streets in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), particularly around the federal secretariat and in proximity to the APC national secretariat along Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja. The posters boldly declare, “APC Next Level. Alhaji Yahaya Bello as APC National Chairman. Leading the Change, Building a Stronger APC.”

Morka reiterated, “There is no vacancy in the office of the national chairman. Our national chairman remains the chairman. This is democracy, people do what they want. We have total confidence in the leadership of the party. Those who are posting these papers around should desist from doing so.”

Additionally, Morka disclosed that the ruling party is set to launch the update of the party’s membership register in Niger State. He outlined the plan, stating, “To flag off the update of membership registration nationally in Niger State, then flag off in one state in each of the other geo-political zones.”

Expressing concern over a separate matter, Morka denounced the failure or refusal of the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly to swear in 16 APC House members, who were adjudged by the Court of Appeal as the duly elected members of the Plateau State House of Assembly. He criticized the stubbornness of the Speaker and the state governor, labeling their actions as wrong, undemocratic, and violently contemptuous of the authority of the Court of Appeal—the highest court for the determination of election petition matters concerning the House of Assembly.
