In a significant move following his inauguration, Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has unveiled key appointments in his administration. Dr. Folashade Ayoade has been appointed as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), a role she held for the past eight years under the immediate past Governor, Yahaya Bello. Hailing from the Kogi West Senatorial district, Ayoade brings a wealth of experience to the position.
Ali Bello, who is a nephew to the former governor, has been appointed as the Chief of Staff. Bello, originally associated with Yakubu Adabenege, now the Auditor-General of Local Government, assumes a crucial role in the governor’s inner circle.
Suleman Ibrahim is designated as the Director-General of Protocol, while Oladele Nihi steps into the position of Chief Press Secretary, handling crucial communication responsibilities for the government.
Additionally, Governor Ododo announced the appointment of several Commissioner-designates, a majority of whom served in similar capacities during the tenure of the former governor, Yahaya Bello. Notable figures among them include Kingsley Fanwo, the former Commissioner for Information; Idris Ashiru, former Finance Commissioner; Bashir Gegu, who previously held the portfolio of Commissioner for Solid Minerals; Wemi Jones, the former Commissioner for Education; and Salami Deedat, who served as the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
These appointments signify a blend of continuity and fresh perspectives as the new administration takes shape. The retention of certain key figures from the previous government suggests a strategic approach to governance, combining experience with potential innovations for the benefit of Kogi State.
