The Kogi State Government has introduced a new online platform for disbursing bursary awards to financially disadvantaged students enrolled in tertiary institutions nationwide.
During the unveiling event held in Lokoja on Monday, the State Commissioner for Education, Honorable Wemi Jones, reaffirmed Governor Usman Ododo’s unwavering commitment to enhancing student welfare and promoting accessible education for all.

This revitalized scholarship initiative aligns with the comprehensive ten-year Kogi State Development Plan, underscoring the government’s dedication to uplifting educational standards. The Commissioner encouraged eligible students to participate in the application process.
The online portal for pre-qualification will be accessible from Tuesday, April 16, until the deadline on April 30, providing ample time for interested students to apply.
Honorable Jones commended the foresight of former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, whose initiatives have propelled rapid advancements in the state’s education sector.
Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, clarified that the bursary awards are exclusively for students of Kogi origin enrolled in tertiary institutions nationwide. He emphasized the accessibility of the application process, even via smartphones, through the official portal.
Assuring transparency, Raji pledged that the selection process would be conducted with utmost integrity.
Comrade Oladele John Nihi, the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, emphasized the importance of extensive publicity to ensure all eligible students are informed. Nihi urged the scholarship board to collaborate with the national secretariat of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) to disseminate information to local chapters nationwide.
Reassuring students, Nihi affirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises with precision under Governor Ododo’s leadership.
Comrade Jeremiah Elukpo, President of NAKOSS, echoed the call for Kogi students to register for the bursary, emphasizing the government’s genuine intentions to support them.
