The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Bethrand Onuoha, has distributed cheques totaling N48.6 million to the families of 22 officers who lost their lives in active service. The gesture was part of the group life assurance benefits provided to support families of officers who died while on duty, as well as those who were injured in accidents during official assignments.
In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, William Aya, it was revealed that the presentation was made on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. Commissioner Onuoha extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the deceased in the line of duty. He also reaffirmed the IGP’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of serving, retired, and deceased officers.
“The CP, on behalf of the IGP, expresses deep condolences to the families of the deceased officers and recognizes their ultimate sacrifice,” Onuoha stated. He encouraged the recipients to use the financial support to improve their families’ living conditions and advised injured officers to prioritize their health and well-being.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the IGP’s assistance and promised to make good use of the funds provided. This gesture reflects the ongoing commitment of the police force to support the families of officers who have given their lives in the service of their country.
