The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Muhammed Faruk, has announced that Lokoja metropolis will begin receiving uninterrupted water supply starting next week. The water supply will also be extended to other areas, including Phase Two and other parts of the state in the near future.
Faruk made this statement while receiving an award of excellence from the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (M&HWUN), Lokoja Local Government chapters. The award ceremony took place at the Lokoja Local Government Legislative Chamber.
During the event, the immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area and current All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu, was also honored for his service. Another recipient, Hon. Sefiya Orahanoh Abubakar, Head of the Department (HoD) of Education and Social Services in Lokoja Local Government, was recognized as the “Most Friendly and Reliable HoD.”
In his acceptance speech, Commissioner Faruk expressed gratitude to NULGE for the honor, dedicating the award to Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who, he said, has empowered his administration to make impactful changes in the state. Faruk emphasized that the award would inspire him and others to deliver more services to the people of Kogi State.
“It is humbling to be recognized by such reputable organizations as NULGE and M&HWUN. This recognition is a great surprise, and it serves as a motivation for us to continue working toward a better Kogi State,” Faruk stated.
He also acknowledged the other awardees, describing them as dedicated public servants and commending NULGE for recognizing their contributions.
Abdullahi Adamu, the APC Chairmanship Candidate, urged the NULGE executives to continue working closely with the government to improve the welfare of citizens, especially in the local government areas. He congratulated the awardees, calling them “worthy ambassadors” and encouraged them to keep serving the community with dedication.
In his remarks, Comrade Tom Abutu, former Chairman of NULGE in Kogi State, stated that the awardees were selected based on merit and urged them to continue their efforts in improving society. He also appealed to the political class to prioritize the interests of workers in the state.
The awards ceremony served as a platform for recognizing outstanding public service while reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving essential services, such as water supply, and the welfare of its citizens.
