The Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pora Films for the establishment of a state-owned television station.
The agreement, signed on Friday in Lokoja, outlines a five-year partnership, renewable for an additional two years, after which full ownership will be transferred to the state government.

A Historic Milestone for Kogi’s Media Landscape
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Secretary to the Kogi State Government, described the initiative as a groundbreaking achievement that will enhance the state’s media presence and global visibility.
“The establishment of this television station is a testament to the state government’s commitment to empowering its citizens and promoting socio-economic growth. This platform will showcase our rich cultural heritage, attract investment, and serve as a tool for education, information, and entertainment,” she stated.
Dr. Ayoade emphasized that the new station will also serve as a direct communication channel between the government and citizens, fostering transparency and accountability.

Commitment to Quality and Global Standards
Hon. Kinsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communication, praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for making the long-awaited project a reality. He highlighted that Pora Films was selected to ensure the station meets international broadcasting standards.
“We have put measures in place to make this television station one of the best in the country,” he assured.

Pora Films Pledges Top-Tier Broadcasting Services
Mr. Olajide Ojoniyi, Co-Founder of Pora Films, expressed gratitude to the state government for entrusting them with the project. He highlighted the company’s experience working with DSTV and other broadcasting giants and promised to replicate the same level of excellence in Kogi.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key media stakeholders, including:
- Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf – Director General, Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation
- Yusuf Itopa – Managing Director, The Graphics Newspaper
- Hon. Avoyi Nwogu – Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media
With this partnership, Kogi State is set to launch its first-ever state-owned television station, marking a significant step in media development, cultural promotion, and governance transparency.
