Governor Ododo emphasized that protecting children’s welfare is a top priority and an essential duty for the state government. He highlighted the Nigeria Constitution’s provisions, which secure the basic rights to life, education, health, and protection from abuse for all citizens, especially children. Additionally, he noted that the Child Rights Act enforces critical protections, including the prohibition of child marriage and betrothal for anyone under 18.

The governor also announced that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, where the child welfare office operates, is working to find permanent, secure, and caring homes for children in orphanages.

Governor Ododo called on security agencies, the media, and all community stakeholders to collaborate in fighting child trafficking and labor. He assured the public that every reported case of child abuse or rights violations would be addressed with the seriousness it deserves.

“We are committed to eradicating child labor and trafficking in Kogi State,” he said, urging all stakeholders to support this mission and help secure a brighter future for every child in the state.
