The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has advised married couples to refrain from sharing details of their marriages on social media. In a recent post on her social media handle, she emphasized the importance of using social platforms for business promotion instead of personal relationships to minimize complaints.
The FCT Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU) has noticed an increase in complaints over the past two months, with a significant number coming from married individuals. Adeh’s post serves as a reminder to keep personal matters, especially those related to marriage, off social media to maintain privacy and minimize potential conflicts.
A source from PCRU revealed that a notable portion of recent complaints has been from married couples in the FCT. Many individuals have contacted the police to express concerns about their partners’ activities on social media, citing the adverse impact on their marriages.
The PCRU officer explained, “The PRO is just very concerned because most of the complaints that we have received at the PCRU over the past two months have been from married people. A lot of these married people living in the FCT have been calling us to complain about the content that their partners post on social media and how it sometimes affects them in negative ways.”
