Ihima Security Summit: Ohinoyi of Ebiraland Calls for Grassroots Initiatives and Reconciliation

At the Ihima Peace and Security Summit, held on Sunday at the Ihima Civic Center, Ohueta, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, emphasized the need for grassroots initiatives to enhance peace, security, and reconciliation. Themed “Building a Safer and More Resilient Community,” the summit aimed to address security challenges and foster unity within the region.

In his address, the Ohinoyi urged the people of Ihima, both at home and abroad, to prioritize the development of their community and strengthen collaboration between the Ebira and Fulani communities. His Royal Majesty stressed the importance of love, reconciliation, and collective efforts to ensure long-lasting peace and security.

Alhaji AbdulKareem Salihu, a former House of Representatives member and chairman of the summit, commended the Ohinoyi’s involvement, noting that the monarch’s presence reflected the significance of peace and security in societal progress. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve security in Ebiraland and urged parents, particularly mothers, to closely monitor their children’s activities for a safer community.

The President of the Ihima Welfare Association expressed gratitude to the Ohinoyi and emphasized the critical need for peace and stability in the region. He also questioned the lack of proactive leadership in addressing security issues and proposed that funds allocated for security be redirected toward job creation to alleviate youth restiveness.

Representing the Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Elijah A. Evinemi, the State’s Head of Service, formally opened the summit. He praised the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across Kogi State.

In a speech delivered by a representative of the State Security Adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the importance of resilience and collective action in overcoming security challenges was highlighted, encouraging the community to work together for the safety and well-being of the region.
