Five members of a family in Ondo State have tragically died after consuming what is believed to be a poisonous meal. The victims, a grandmother and four of her grandchildren, reportedly ate pap and fish in Akure, the state capital.
The incident occurred in the Gaga area of Oke-Aro, Akure South Local Government Area, plunging the community into grief and despair. According to a family source, the grandmother had prepared the meal, which is suspected to have been poisoned or contaminated.

Two other grandchildren who ate the same meal are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. A concerned neighbor, Isaac, shared that while police and government officials had visited the home, no formal investigation into the cause of the deaths has yet been launched.
“We initially heard they consumed poisoned pap, but later, there were claims the fish from a pond in the house compound was contaminated,” Isaac said.
However, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, revealed that the incident had not been officially reported to any police station. The community awaits further details as the case develops.
