Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the College of Health Sciences and the Teaching Hospital at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Anyigba.
The directive, aimed at identifying gaps hindering the launch of the university’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, was disclosed by the Commissioner during his visit to the university on Thursday.
“Governor Ododo’s vision is to bridge the shortage of medical professionals in Kogi State by expanding opportunities for training qualified doctors and healthcare personnel,” Dr. Adeiza stated.
He noted that the initiative builds upon the foundation laid by former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who facilitated the construction of a state-of-the-art clinical complex at the university’s teaching hospital. The facility has played a crucial role in expediting the accreditation process for the MBBS program.
