In a heartfelt endeavor to create a meaningful impact, the founder of Rural Development Initiative spearheaded an initiative to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Okene, Kogi State. It proved to be an awe-inspiring and enlightening experience. Our primary objective was to educate and raise awareness about the significance of menstrual hygiene management. The overwhelming participation and collective enthusiasm we witnessed were truly gratifying.
During this process, we gained insight into the formidable challenges faced by girls and women residing in rural communities. They confront various obstacles in effectively managing their menstrual cycles, including limited access to affordable and sanitary menstrual products, as well as enduring the stigma and shame associated with menstruation.
Nevertheless, we also had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the extraordinary resilience and strength exhibited by the women in this community. They tirelessly strive to dismantle these barriers and advocate for menstrual health and hygiene. Their unwavering passion and unwavering commitment were a profound source of inspiration for us. We stand alongside them proudly in this crucial battle.
