The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,800 officers to Kogi State to ensure security before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. This deployment was authorized by the Kogi State Commandant, Paul Igwebuike, and announced by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdulkahi Aliyu, in Lokoja on Friday.

Following the directive from the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the deployment aims to ensure a smooth and secure Eid-el-Kabir across the country. Aliyu emphasized that Area Commanders in Kogi State are tasked with ensuring proper security coordination within their jurisdictions, while Divisional Officers are responsible for mobilizing their personnel effectively.

The State Commandant has instructed all component commanders and special forces to be deployed for comprehensive security coverage. This measure aims to protect the populace, critical national assets, and infrastructure in the state.

“Our commitment to ensuring peace, safety, and the protection of lives and critical assets, in collaboration with other security agencies, must be executed through collective efforts,” the statement quoted the NSCDC Commandant. He further urged all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to diligently fulfill their responsibilities.

Additionally, the Commandant has mandated all formations within the State Command to engage with community stakeholders for gathering credible intelligence and conducting thorough surveillance before, during, and after the celebration to thwart any criminal activities.

“The deployment will focus on key areas such as prayer grounds, worship centers, recreational facilities, motor parks, gardens, markets, shopping complexes, black spots, and critical installations to ensure the festivity proceeds without any incidents,” Aliyu stated.

This comprehensive security plan underscores the NSCDC’s resolve to provide maximum protection and ensure a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Kogi State.
