Renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has dismissed claims that he has ever spoken to or met Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. In a recent interview on Channels TV, Falana clarified that he had no connection with Bobrisky and that neither he nor any member of his family had ever interacted with the crossdresser.

Falana confirmed that Bobrisky had reached out to his son, popular musician and activist Folarin Falana (Falz), seeking financial assistance while in prison. Bobrisky reportedly asked Falz for N3 million to secure placement in a “VIP” section of the prison. However, Falz refused to provide the money, warning Bobrisky against bribing prison authorities.

Falana explained, “Bobrisky never spoke to me; I have never met him. He allegedly spoke to my son, Falz, asking for help. My son refused, questioning whether Bobrisky had permission from the prison authorities to make such a request. Falz ended the conversation and advised him to follow proper channels if he needed to communicate further.”

Falana further addressed the defamatory allegations spread by social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, who claimed that Falana was involved in a bribery scheme with Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Falana rejected these accusations and stated his intention to pursue civil proceedings to restore his and his son’s reputations. “I have resisted filing a criminal complaint because of my advocacy for freedom of expression, but we will take civil action to clear our names,” Falana asserted.

VeryDarkMan has since retracted his allegations, offering an “unreserved apology” to Falana during an appearance before the Nigerian House of Representatives, admitting the claims were unfounded.
