A distressing incident unfolded near Chikara along the Abuja-Lokoja highway, where an unmarked Nissan car collided with a cyclist, resulting in injuries to two individuals.
According to a witness account, the accident occurred at approximately 12:12 pm on Saturday. The driver, traveling from the Lokoja direction, reportedly swerved to avoid a pothole but inadvertently struck the cyclist in the process.
The impact left both the cyclist and a passenger with varying degrees of injuries. Prompt action by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials facilitated their rescue, swiftly transporting them to Abaji General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Upon arrival at the hospital, our reporter observed the FRSC team efficiently transferring the victims to the emergency ward, where medical personnel promptly attended to their injuries.
An FRSC representative, who opted to remain anonymous, confirmed the accident, attributing it to excessive speed and a loss of control on the part of the driver.
It is commendable to note that the driver of the vehicle assumed responsibility for the incident, promptly visiting the hospital and covering the medical expenses incurred by the injured individuals.
