The national tripartite committee on minimum wage will convene daily for the next week, as announced by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. This decision follows a meeting with organized labor that commenced at 5 PM and concluded shortly before 11 PM on Monday night.
During the meeting, both organized labor and the government signed an agreement, although the specifics of the agreement have yet to be disclosed. Akume emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to implementing a minimum wage exceeding N60,000. Additionally, he assured that no worker would face retaliation for participating in the strike.
Further details on the agreement and the outcomes of the upcoming daily meetings will be provided in due course.
