Aliko Dangote University in Kano Develops Robot for Domestic Assistance in Staff Duties

The Kano State University of Science and Technology Wudil, now known as Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, is pioneering the development of a robotic machine designed to support staff in carrying out domestic chores such as cleaning, sweeping, and knighting within the institution.

Professor Musa Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor of the university, shared with the media that this robotic innovation aims to enhance staff efficiency in their daily tasks. The management of the institution has made significant strides in leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology to empower students, enabling them to actively participate in the global IT transformation.

According to Professor Yakasai, the robotic machine has undergone successful testing and is operating seamlessly in line with its intended design. He further mentioned the university’s commitment to creating various machines that alleviate the workload within the institution.

Highlighting other technological advancements, the vice chancellor emphasized the newly-renovated library with a capacity to accommodate over 500 students. The library is fully equipped with internet connectivity and other IT resources. While acknowledging the presence of a functional e-library, Professor Yakasai encourages students to embrace both traditional and electronic library systems to foster an improved reading culture.
