
Veteran Nigerian actor Pa Charles Olumo, fondly known as Agbako, has passed away at the age of 101, leaving behind a cherished legacy that resonates deeply with fans and colleagues.
The news was shared by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), whose president, Bolaji Amusan—popularly known as Mr. Latin—confirmed Agbako’s passing. “We announce the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared later,” he stated, honoring the esteemed actor with a heartfelt “Good night, father. 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.”
Owolabi Ajasa, a respected figure in the industry, also paid tribute, acknowledging Agbako as “the eldest figure in the entertainment industry” and extending a final farewell: “Adieu, Baba Charles! Agbako, sun re o! Goodnight, Baba. May your soul rest in peace.”
Actor Kunle Afod joined in the remembrances, sharing his own farewell: “Good night, Pa Charles Olumo (Baba Agbako). The oldest actor. 101 years. Sun re ooo, dabo, di oju ala.”
Agbako’s remarkable 101-year journey has come to a close, but his impact on the Nigerian film industry endures.
