Kogi Government Pledges Firm Action Against Security Threats, Reassures Residents of Safety

The Kogi State Government has restated its unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and security of its people, emphasizing that proactive measures are being taken to protect lives and property throughout the state.

In a press release on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, addressed recent isolated security concerns, describing them as calculated attempts by criminal elements to destabilize the peace Kogi currently enjoys.

Fanwo made it clear that such incidents will not deter the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo from upholding law and order. He disclosed that several strategic security initiatives have been activated—some of which are being kept confidential to preserve their effectiveness.

He also highlighted the government’s ongoing support for local vigilante groups and its strong collaboration with conventional security forces. According to Fanwo, the state has enhanced its security network through better logistics, improved surveillance tools, and faster response systems. These efforts, he noted, reflect the administration’s commitment to a security-centric leadership model.

In addition, Fanwo said the government is combining intelligence gathering with cutting-edge technology to monitor and combat potential threats. He added that Governor Ododo’s administration is building on the solid security legacy left by the previous government to ensure a safer Kogi.

He encouraged residents to remain alert and cooperative with security agencies, assuring them that criminal groups would find no safe haven in the state.

Addressing the role of the media, Fanwo urged journalists to exercise caution and professionalism when reporting security matters. He warned against sensational news coverage that could incite fear or embolden wrongdoers, stressing that responsible journalism should prioritize national interest and peace.

“The Ododo-led government will not stand idly by in the face of any security challenge,” Fanwo affirmed. “The fact that we do not publicize every action does not mean we are inactive. We are always ahead of those seeking to disrupt our peace, and we remain resolute in making Kogi one of the most secure states in Nigeria.”

He concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to creating a safe and stable environment for both citizens and investors, declaring that those who threaten public order will find no place in Kogi.
